Ken Sabel, PsyD, SEPOn Psychotherapy...Dr. Ken Sabel, PsyD, SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner), integrates somatic therapy with the principles of psychodynamic and cognitive psychology. He emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship as a vital part of the healing process and understands the difficulty in moving forward when anxiety, depression, trauma, and old patterns of behavior and thinking stand in the way. He holds the belief that a greater level of success
in therapy is achieved when a holistic approach is taken to the |
physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual parts of the self and when the strengths and resources available to the client are utilized to embrace and shift one’s relationship to pain, fear, and shame. He emphasizes the strategies of positive psychology and mindfulness.
Dr. Sabel holds master’s degrees in both Education and Psychology, as well as a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He is a practitioner of Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing method. With over 22 years of experience in education, he has been a consultant in the education system for the past 10 years. He has worked in clinical settings for 9 years specializing in anxiety, mood disorders, codependency, depression, addiction, and trauma.
He currently works with individuals, couples, children, and families and treats a broad base of issues. He provides clients with a warm, nonjudgmental environment – a safe place to get curious, to accept, to forgive and to let go.
Dr. Sabel lives with his wife, their cat and dog. He is currently co-writing a book on self-regulation in the 21st century classroom.
