In his own words...
"It's possible to discover the root of our problems, which often lies in past trauma and chronic stress. In our work, you will gain personal insight and new skills, as well as discover increased motivation and purpose for taking action to change your life for the better. Contemporary neuroscience shows that practicing new ways of relating to our thoughts, emotions, and sensations leads to lasting changes in the mind and nervous system, through neuroplasticity. Our work together will be collaborative and based on an integrative modality incorporating traditional therapy and mind-body interventions, such as mindfulness, relaxation training, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and other techniques for using the mind in new ways. It is possible to discover new freedom and transformative power within yourself. With hard work and practice, it's possible to achieve lasting change in mental health. This work involves difficult self-exploration, as well as disciplined practice of new habits of mind and other forms of self-care."

On Writing...
Inspired by his work at The Heights, Adam compiled and synthesized a breadth of scientific research studies into a comprehensive textbook chapter in the illustrious Andrew Weil's Integrative Medicine Library Series published by Oxford University Press. The editors of the second edition of Integrative Gastroenterology (2019) have heralded Adam's chapter, Mind-body Interventions for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders, a keystone chapter of this acclaimed compendium. In this volume, Adam delivers a wealth of practical information for health care practitioners and consumers on integrative approaches for stress reduction and gastrointestinal disorders.
Digestive complaints have become increasingly common. Recent statistics show that gastrointestinal complaints account for nearly a third of all visits to primary care doctors and that nearly one in six Americans suffer from digestive disease. Adam's ability to digest medical research and synthesize this material into effective interventions for medical doctors, mental health practitioners, and consumers alike, is fresh and compelling. His scholarship is a much needed addition to health psychology literature, and reveals the intimate connection between psychological dis-ease and its physical manifestations.

On Teaching...
Adam lectures on mind-body interventions to primary care physicians, gastroenterologists, mental health professionals, and other medical specialists. Most recently, he presented to medical residents and fellows at Memorial Care's Family Medicine Center's prestigious residency training program in Long Beach, CA. He has given numerous academic presentations on healthcare topics related to stress, and ways to support diverse clinical populations.
At the 2018 American Psychological Association (APA) Convention in San Francisco, CA, Adam served as lead organizer and co-chair of a pharmacotherapy symposium hosted by the Society for the Advancement of Pharmacotherapy, a professional organization focused on research and clinical practice integrating pharmacological treatments with psychotherapy. Adam moderated an international panel of experts who presented empirical, clinical, and cultural considerations relevant to mental health professionals and the general public. In addition to organizing and moderating this innovative symposium, Adam discussed fascinating results from his own cutting-edge research.
